It’s often said that once you have a telehandler you wonder how you managed without it, as the capacity, manoeuvrability and safety surpass that of a traditional tractor and loader by a country mile.
Today more than one in three telehandlers around the world carries the Manitou name. The MLT-X range from the French specialists offers a range of opportunities with capacities from 2.5 to 6.0 tonnes, lift heights from 6.0m to 10, and forward reach of up to 6.5m.
Manitou rough terrain telescopic handlers look good both internally and externally and are designed for maximum operator comfort.
A low profile boom with low slung engine and ergonomic cabin combine to give the driver 360 degree visibility.
Operators can work comfortably during long days thanks to the air suspension seat, air conditioning and low noise levels (only 76db) thanks to the full soundproofing of the cab.
Exclusive to Manitou is the ‘Joystick Switch and Move’ (JSM), which allows the operator to control all movements with one hand in total safety without causing fatigue. JSM ensures safe, controlled placement and fingertip control of the four stage manual or six stage power-shift transmissions.
Flexibility is the key with Manitou Rough Terrain telehandlers. A wide range of attachments and enhancement packages are available to meet individual requirements.
In New Zealand the Mantiou offering focuses on four MLT-X models, which cover the majority of agricultural requirements.
The entry level MLT-X 732 costs about the same as a 100hp tractor/loader combination. The Manitou MLT-X732 can lift up 3.2 tonnes to a height of 7.0m.
The MLT-X 732 has a Powershuttle 4-speed gearbox for a good range of speed options to meet a range of applications. It is an excellent investment for anyone who wants to make the step up from loader tractors to the versatility afforded by telehandlers. It is easy to use, and perfectly suited to various light farm applications. Its 95hp engine and torque converter give more than enough power for most tasks.
MLT-X 735-120 LSU PS
Next up is the MLT-X 735 with a lift capacity of 3.5 tonnes and lift height of 7.0m. The MLT-X 735 is designed for agricultural applications and is ideal for those looking for a little more capacity and improved cycle times thanks to its high-flow pump.
The chassis on the MLT-X 735 is designed for better manoeuvrability and has a sharp turning radius of 3.7m so you can easily get into tight spaces when necessary. It also has all-terrain ability coming from agricultural tyres and a generous ground clearance.
A standard Powershift 6-speed gearbox on the MLT-X 735 offers flexibility when dealing with loads whilst Joystick switch and move (JSM) controls provide the driver with ease of use and optimised ergonomics.
MLT-X 741-120 LSU
For larger operations the MLT-X 741-120 LSU ups the ante even further. It has 4.1 tonnes lift capacity and 7.0m lift height.
With its agricultural tyres, four-wheel drive and three steering modes it can easily handle all types of terrain so it is great for farm work. It is easy to use and has a high performance Deutz 122hp engine to help you improve your productivity and make workdays easier.
The cab is comfortable and spacious, with insulation to reduce engine noise, which is important for heavy-duty use. The driving seat is adjustable in height and depth to accommodate all shapes and sizes.
High end and contractors will want to take a look at the MLT-X 840-137PS. When there is silage to be pushed up or bulkers to be filled having 4.0 tonne lift capacity and 8.0m lift height comes in very handy.
The MLT-X 840 offers generous ground clearance, four-wheel drive and three steering modes to handle all terrains. With Its 137hp John Deere engine it gives reduced fuel consumption thanks to lock-up and electronically controlled cooling.
The M-Shift gearbox provides smoothness when shifting gears and in automatic mode is able to select the best gear for the task at hand for increased efficiency and precision.
With a wide range of attachments available and strong tractive effort, the MLT S 840 is a versatile machine that will make most daily tasks easier.
