Apprentice Programme

Our staff are an essential part of our business and we are passionate advocates of Trade Apprentices schemes.

We take on a limited number of apprentices yearly. Preference is given to graduates of pre-trade training courses at Wintec and Fairview Motors but we are always keen to talk to school leavers who believe this could be the pathway for them.

We have an in-house apprentice coordinator to give our apprentices maximum support to complete their apprenticeship with us.

Once the apprenticeship is partially completed, we introduce additional product and industry training to develop extra workplace skills. As an apprentice, you will learn important skills, gain invaluable experience and develop your potential.

Our business is small enough to care, but large enough to compete and grow – keeping agriculture moving.

Giltrap AgriZone undertakes to provide ALL our apprentices with:

  • Structured inhouse classroom training as set by Management.
  • An incremental pay increase upon achievement of every 50 credits and will be assessed every 6 months.
  • Uniform and PPE.
  • Training to attain a folk lift licence within 12 months.
  • A safe working environment.
  • Monitoring of theory and practical progress on a regular basis
and mentorship on an as required basis.

As a Giltrap AgriZone Apprentice you should expect:

  • Achievement of NZQA New Zealand Certificate Level 3 and
4 upon successful completion of an apprenticeship as an
    Automotive Heavy Engineering (Agricultural) Technician.
  • Staff prices on all tools and parts.
  • To be assessed with a view to attaining ‘Apprentice of the Year’
    awards.
  • We take apprentices at the start of each year.
